Aluminum Tide is a kinetic sculpture that keeps two steel ball bearings in perpetual motion around a track. Beginning with only a concept, my team and I developed a simple mechanism to acheive this difficult motion. Each component was carefully fabricated by the team, using operations such as CNC and manual mill, lathe, laser cutter, and ShopBot. The end result is an elegant and open design that strikes your eye as you walk through the halls of Olin.
